Origin Story
It has always been important for us to offer a decaf coffee that has many of the great characteristics of regular coffee. Our decaf is an incredible single origin Columbian coffee with wonderful cocoa, toffee, and sweet dark raisin flavors while being perfectly balanced with a silky finish.
The coffee beans go through an Ethyl Acetate (E.A.) process, to remove their caffeine. First the beans are water soaked to extract caffeine and other soluble compounds. The mixture is combined with E.A., a naturally occurring solvent found in fruits such as apples and bananas, which dissolves the caffeine. The caffeine is then separated from the solution as the E.A. evaporates, leaving only decaffeinated coffee.
