The time-honored area is the birthplace of Arabica coffee. The cherished bean is uniquely jasmine scented after washed, sweetly tart when sundried on raised beds, and mild bodied after roasted. It is a revered staple of the 900-year-old Ethiopian Jebena Buna cultural ritual.
Kochere is decked with washing stations which are crucial hubs for local farmers to process their carefully harvested beans. The iron-laden soil infuses a distinct character into the beans, while the high 1800-2100m altitude adds an additional level of excellence to the growing process.
